In the ever-evolving landscape of our busy lives, the commitment to health and wellness can sometimes be overlooked. The Jupiter-Tequesta-Hobe Sound (JTHS) Miami Young Professionals Network (YPN) knew they wanted to think outside the box to provide more for our community. In February, JTHS Miami YPN organized a community event featuring a state-of-the-art 3D Mobile Mammography Bus, right outside their office in Jupiter.
This event was designed to raise awareness about the importance of regular health and breast cancer screenings for both women and men, and to provide a convenient option for those who might otherwise delay such essential care. When breast cancer is identified and treated early, the survival rate can reach 90% to 99%, leading to improved outcomes.
“Early detection saves lives, and the Mammolink DBA 3D Mobile Mammography is a testament to the power of accessible healthcare,” JTHS-MIAMI YPN Chair Lorry Santana said. “I am proud to advocate for this life-saving service, which brings state-of-the-art mammography directly to our communities. With a compassionate team, screenings that take less than 20 minutes, and same-day results reviewed by Dr. Ryan Polselli, we are breaking barriers to early detection. Knowing that our efforts have already SAVED A LIFE, reminds us why awareness and action matter so deeply. Together, we can continue to make a difference—one screening at a time. Thank you, Teresa Kinney for supporting this vital initiative.”
Partnering with a leading mobile mammography service, Mammolink, a 3D Mobile Mammography Bus, an innovative and mobile facility equipped with the latest technology in breast cancer screening. This mobile unit offers unparalleled diagnostic accuracy, allowing for early detection of potential health issues. With 3D mammography, high-quality and detailed images are generated. Several images of each breast are captured from various angles, creating a three-dimensional view allowing Ryan Polselli, MD, a Fellowship Trained Breast Imaging Radiologist, to analyze breast tissue layer by layer, offering essential clinical insights. The mobile unit, with its advanced imaging capabilities, made it possible for attendees to receive comprehensive screenings without the need to travel to a traditional medical facility.
During the event, 11 individuals took advantage of the opportunity to receive screenings, but the true measure of success with the event came after, when Mammolink shared that one patient who was screened had a critical finding identified. This early detection was crucial in ensuring the patient could begin necessary treatment without delay, underscoring the life-saving potential of such initiatives.
The success of this event has inspired plans for similar future initiatives, aiming to reach even more people and continue raising awareness about the importance of regular health screenings. By prioritizing health and wellness, the JTHS Miami YPN is helping to cultivate a culture of care and prevention, empowering individuals with the knowledge and resources needed to take charge of their health.
